5 GB is free. Drive Plus (200 GB) is 4.99 a month on monthly billing, 47.88 a year (3.99 a month) or 83.76 for two years (3.49 a month). Proton Unlimited (500 GB with Mail, VPN and Pass) is 12.99 a month, 119.88 a year or 191.76 for two years. Proton Duo (2 TB, 2 people) is 179.88 a year and Proton Family (3 TB, up to 6 people) 287.88 a year.
How the calculation works
- Prices come from Proton's own payment API, read on 18 October 2026 with an anonymous session: the same amounts appear in EUR, USD and CHF, and no temporary discount was active that day. Taxes may be added at checkout depending on your country.
- Total on monthly billing = monthly price × 12 × years. On 12-month billing = yearly price × years. On 24-month billing, the two-year price is used for each pair of years and the yearly price for an odd last year. Renewal is assumed at the same price, which matched Proton's checkout that day.
- The plan shown is the cheapest one whose storage covers your need, whose user count covers your household, and, if you tick the box, that includes the paid Mail, VPN and Pass features.
- The pCloud comparison appears only for a single-user storage need in EUR, against the one-time pCloud lifetime price read on pcloud.com the same day.

How much does Proton Drive cost per month?
Drive Plus with 200 GB costs 4.99 a month on monthly billing, 3.99 a month when paid yearly (47.88) and 3.49 a month on the 24-month plan (83.76). Proton Unlimited with 500 GB costs 12.99, 9.99 or 7.99 a month on the same three billings. Prices read in Proton's checkout on 18 October 2026.
Is the 24-month Proton plan worth it?
It is the cheapest per month if you are sure to keep the service. On Drive Plus, two years cost 83.76 instead of 119.76 month by month, a saving of 36 (30 %). On Proton Unlimited, 191.76 instead of 311.76, a saving of 120 (38 %). If you are only testing, start with the 5 GB free plan or monthly billing.
Drive Plus or Proton Unlimited?
Drive Plus is storage only. Unlimited costs 72 more a year on yearly billing (119.88 against 47.88) and adds 300 GB, plus the paid Proton Mail, VPN and Pass features. It pays off if you would use at least one of those other services; for storage alone, Drive Plus is the cheaper choice.
Is there a Proton Drive discount or special offer?
On 18 October 2026 no temporary discount was active in Proton's checkout: the lower monthly price on 12 and 24 months is the standard reduction. Proton runs occasional promotions, for example around Black Friday, and the price shown at checkout is the one that counts.
Does Proton Drive have a lifetime plan?
Proton's pricing page listed no lifetime plan for Drive on 18 October 2026. If you want to pay once, pCloud sells lifetime storage (219 for 500 GB, 499 for 2 TB on pcloud.com the same day), but its standard storage is not end-to-end encrypted: that requires the paid pCloud Crypto add-on.
